Welcome to lesson one: Capitalizing people and cultures. In this lesson you will become a detective in order to uncover the truth about correctly capitalizing people's names and cultures. First, you need to read up on your evidence- the facts of the case are below, followed by examples:

Clue 1.) Capitalize people's names and initials:
Michael Jordan, Edgar A. Poe

Clue 2.) Capitalize titles and abbreviations of titles used before names (Dr. david Arnold) or used directly after names (Sarah Pines, Pd.D)

Clue 3.) Capitalize the titles of heads of state, royalty, or nobility only when their name is used as well. Do not capitalize the title if the person's name is not included.
Sir Laurence Oliver, The Queen of England, the king is awesome

Clue 4.) Capitalize the titles of family members, only when their names are used as well. Do not capitalize the title if the person's name is not included.
Aunt Grace, Unclue Jim, grandpa

Clue 5.) Capitalize the names of religions, sacred days, writings, and dieties.
Judaism, Christmas, Bible

Clue 6.) Capitalize the names of nationalities, languages, races, and some ethnic groups.
Mexican, Native American, Caucasian
